This gorgeous Nautical Blue on Palomino is stunning, FULLY serviced and boasts VERY low thoughtful and cared for miles.  It has been living in sunny, dry, beautiful Southern California and has been a weekend treat for a leisurely drive.  Made to be the ultimate touring roadster, this powerful SL delivers comfortable, effortless highway miles and is an absolute dream for around-town cruising.  It’s so simple to slip yourself into the buttery leather drivers seat and be transported to the Autobahn as you watch the Black Forest whiz by you and your beautiful companion’s eyes; top down and hair blowing.  Or for those cool nights, slip the top up or slide the beautiful hardtop on and cruise out in the darkness in quiet and comfort.

Background:
Let me begin with a little background. When the original owner ordered this car, he truly had an eye for what a roadster should be: a quintessentially beautiful color draped handsomely over a classic, rich, inviting interior.  The 560SL was ordered Nautikblau Metallic or Nautical Blue Metallic.  It is a deep ocean blue with hints of silver and gold in the flake that shines beautifully in the sun and has a deep luster as the night-time lights bounce off of it.  This car was offered from the factory with a limited slip differential, automatic transmission, ABS, drivers side air bag, leather seats, power windows, central locking system, theft alarm, automatic climate control, heated outside rear view mirrors with electric adjustment on passenger side, AM/FM Cassette radio, center armrest, power antenna with adjustable height, and removable hardtop with electronic defrost.  It was not only incredibly well appointed for its day, but also still today!

The Condition and Service:

This car has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Mercedes service!  There has been almost $8,000 in RECENT retail service, maintenance, and restoration.  All of which has been performed at German Motor Car Service of Santa Monica.  This shop is known for its extreme attention to detail, tier 1 show winning cars and its overall dedication to the Mercedes brand.  Feel free to do a quick search online to read about them!  Let’s dive into the services!

Let’s start on the engine and drivetrain:
This engine has VERY LOW MILES (less than 2,000 a year), only 46,900 miles appear on the odometer and the entire car shows the same care.  There has been abundant scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this car to keep in near brand new condition.  The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth power!

-60,000 MILE SERVICE
As part of the preventive service schedule, this 560SL has already received its 60,000 mile service ahead of schedule which includes the following:

-Brake test, parking brake check
-Check warning indicator lights and horn
-Clean cassette deck tape head
-Inspect headlamps and exterior lamp
-Inspect/test windshield wiper washer system
-Inspect Seatbelts for damage

-Replace O2 sensor
-Inspect condition, routing, leaks, of components, lines and hoses
-Engine oil and filter change
-Check condition and tension of V-belts
-Check and adjust engine coolant level and protection
-Check and adjust automatic transmission fluid level
-Check and adjust brake fluid level
-Check and adjust power steering fluid level
-Check and adjust AC refrigerant charge
-Check and adjust battery electrolyte
-Check and adjust spare tire pressure

In addition to the 60k service the following preventative and restoration services were performed.
-New Valve Cover Gaskets – dry and clean!
-New Camshaft Oiler Kit
-New Heater Valve
-New Ignition Coil
-New Water Pump – Runs cool all day even in the heat with the AC blowing!

Lets move to the suspension and brakes:

-BRAKES
BRAND NEW OEM front brake pads, rear brake pads and emergency brake shoes.  Also brand new brake pad sensor.  The braking system is controlled, powerful and stable.  It feels incredible.

-SHOCKS
Great feeling OEM shocks.  They are soft on bumps and tight in corners.  The car handles wonderfully!

-STEERING
The steering is tight and has no excess play as you may find in many older Mercredes.

Let’s continue to the exterior:

-PAINT
The paint is very nice!  It is a 9+ out of 10 easily.  Nearly every inch of this car is factory fresh with only incredibly minor flaws.   Despite being 26 years old, this car looks decades newer in its paint and is well above its peers in quality and appearance.  Any flaws are so minor they are near impossible to even see in close up pictures.  Could almost not mention it just trying to be thorough!!!

-TIRES
BRAND NEW Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires.  95%+ tread!

-WHEELS
The wheels are in great shape with only minor flaws

-ALIGNMENT/BALANCE
BRAND NEW alignment, wheel balance and valve stems

-CONVERTIBLE TOP (OUTSIDE)
The Navy Blue convertible top is in fantastic shape with no flaws or issues.  It folds wonderfully and has no obvious wear marks.  The rear plastic windows are in beautiful shape and are clear, have no bend lines and tight seams.  Wonderful top!  It also just received brand new weather seals!

-HARDTOP
Included with the sale is the original hardtop with a hardtop cover and hardtop cart.  The paint is wonderful shape and the roofliner is equally a 9+.  This is a wonderful addition to the car and great for those cool weeks in the fall if you prefer a less open air experience.  The hardtop just received all new weather seals!

-GLASS
Not to let a pebble defeat this car, the windshield has not a chip and the side glass is clear and smooth.  The hardtop glass is in excellent shape as well.

-BODY
There is not a drop of rust on this Southern California car!  Check out the convertible top storage compartment.  Free of dust, dirt, rust or water.  Simply astonishing and wonderful.  The car also received a brand new hood ornament!

Onto the cabin:

-SEATS
The Palomino seats are fantastic!!!  There is NO tears, NO seams coming apart.  They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leather is soft and buttery and the foam and the springs are supportive with no signs of fatigue.  Only the slightest of wear can be seen on these wonderful seats and they have been recently cleaned and conditioned.

-DOOR PANELS
The door panels have been recently R&R’ed and look fantastic! All of the panels are free of dents or defects.

-CONVERTIBLE TOP (INSIDE)
The headliner of the convertible top is beautiful shape with no fading, defects or issues.  It is finished in the same beautiful Palomino and light sand coloring as seen in the rest of the car.

-SUNVISORS
The car received brand new OEM sunvisors and a tremendous cost.  They look fantastic!

-CARPET
Gorgeous carpet in the car.  The floors, package shelf and trunk all boast incredible cleanliness and quality and look the part of a brand new car.

-POWER LOCKS
All doors lock and unlock with central locking function.

-POWER WINDOWS
The window guides were serviced and aligned and all windows work smooth and quickly!  The car just received brand new A-pillar weather seals!

-SEAT BELTS
-The belts are in great shape and the car just received brand new seat belt locks!

-RADIO/CASSETTE
OEM Becker Grand Prix radio sounds great and functions 100% as it should!  The car also has a brand new antenna mast which powers up and down perfectly.

-AC/HEAT
The AC is artic cold and Heat is earth core hot!   Cold AC is a treat on these cars and this work flawlessly!

-MIRRORS
Power mirror works perfectly!

-WOOD
Gorgeous wood on the console and dash!  Simply gorgeous and flawless!  The car has a brand new OEM wood shift knob that feels smooth and perfect.  The switch panel is brand new as well as the ashtray lid!

-STEERING WHEEL
The leather is very nice, no tears, split seams or issues!  Smooth and buttery.

-TRUNK
The trunk offers the original First Aid kit, spare tire in wonderful shape, original fully assembled roadside tool kit and a new battery.  It doesn’t get any better!

-MISCELLANEOUS
The car comes with extras such as the original factory paint touch up kit (unused), service records, receipts and a beautiful binder assembled of the pictures of the car.  The owner was METICULOUS and it shows in his record keeping and pride for the car.  The car also comes with an original owners manual, maintenance book, paint care guide, airbag pamphlet, climate control card, warranty book and cruise control guide.  There is also the original first aid in the package shelf and the original top handles in wonderful shape.

The Experience
Driving this 560SL is like no other. It is Lexus quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce.  It has all the power it had from the factory and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this car is an astonishing and beautiful Mercedes.  Treat yourself to this car, that you will not have to dump TONS of money into in this NO RESERVE AUCTION!  There is almost $8k in recent scheduled and preventive service alone in this car so you are ready to go for seemingly endless care free miles.  Don’t buy an unserviced SL for a little less than spend 2 times as much to get it to this level of service!  There is an incredible amount of pride, meticulous and professional care and top-tier service in this car. Don’t buy from a dealer with the “churn-um-and-burn-um” mantra – they buy from an auction or get a trade and put the car right back for sale.  This is a private sale, from a private owner who knows this car intimately and took care of it as deeply as one can.
